About Bob
You didn't arrive at this web
site to learn about me. On the other hand, my surfing of the net has indicated
that an "about me" section seems to be an accepted ritual. Perhaps
that suggests that you, the readers, expect some extra verbiage to enhance
the credibility of information elsewhere in the site.
My brother, two sisters, and I were born in western Pennsylvania. I attended
elementary school in the Monongahela Valley within eighteen miles of the
area pioneered by my GGGG grandparents, John and Margaret Fife in 1766
and within twelve miles of the Elizabeth, Pennsylvania farm where my GG
grandparents, Andrew and Sarah Robinson Fife, established residence in
1808. Both my Great grandfather, Dr. Samuel Robinson Fife, and my grandfather,
Dr. George Lee Fife, practiced medicine in the Elizabeth-Clairton area
where the steel industry established its roots in the early part of the
twentieth century.
Since my college days, I have lived in a number of different states plus
several years in foreign countries. I returned to Pennsylvania in 1991
where I resided in the eastern side of the state in Chester County, eighteen
miles from Valley Forge National Historical Park. In 1999, I moved and
I've settled on Florida's Gulf Coast.
I am a product of "The Fifties", a decade when I was graduated
from Beaver (PA) High School, Penn State, and The American Graduate School
of International Management in Glendale, Arizona. Within that same ten-year
period, I completed a two-year tour with the US Army in France, and was
married in San Francisco.
My working years were marketing management-oriented within the metal industries:
steel, aluminum, forgings and foundry products.
I am a widower with an adult son. My daughter passed away in 2001 at the
age of 37 years. This has been a tragic loss of one who was a precious
part of my llife. While included photography is mostly in support of the
text, I have included some few pictures of my immediate
family - - with a few extra pictures of Robyn who remains in my heart
and memories.
In the development of any computer savvy,
I often rely on my son's guidance when I'm troubled by nuances like the
technology involved with the construction of a web site. I am a devoted
Macintosh aficionado and I hope to stay that way.
Since placing my roots in Florida, I've tried to leave the business world
behind me. I still do lots of traveling, but these days the focus is leisure.
I enjoy boating, fishing, and volunteer work and, on autumn weekends,
I'm never far from a TV screen where I can watch the Penn State Nittany
Lions and the Steelers. Of course, I try to get back to PSU's "Happy
Valley" for at least one home game each autumn.
Welcome
